Itinerary
Kamakura cycling tour is starting at 9:00 am. Meet your guide at the east exit ticket gate of JR Kamakura Station, and pick up your rental bike to begin your adventure!
■ Tomb of Minamoto no Yoritomo (源頼朝の墓)
Our first stop will be the tomb of Minamoto no Yoritomo, the 12th-century general who founded the Kamakura Shogunate. A scenic 10-minute ride from the starting point will lead you to this historical site, where you can also admire beautiful cherry blossom trees in spring.
■ Egara Tenjinsha Shrine
Next, we'll visit Egara Tenjinsha Shrine, a serene place dedicated to Michizane Sugawarano, the god of learning. Don't miss the opportunity to see the unique Kappas drawn by 154 manga artists around the shrine grounds—a treat for manga lovers.
■ Sugimoto-dera
Continuing our journey, we'll reach Sugimoto-dera, the oldest temple in Kamakura, with picturesque green moss-covered stairs leading to its precinct—an ideal spot for capturing wonderful photos.
■ Hokoku-ji Temple: The Temple of the Bamboo Garden
From Sugimoto-dera, we'll head to Hokoku-ji Temple, famously known as "The Temple of the Bamboo Garden" due to its beautiful bamboo groves. Experience a sense of calm and tranquility in this serene environment.
■ Visit Masamune Sword
On our way back to Kamakura Station, we'll stop at Masamune Sword to visit the twenty-fourth generation swordsman Yamamura Tsunahiro. And appreciate Kamakura's legendary sword, "Masamune," and learn swordmaking process.
■ The Great Buddha of Kamakura at Kotokuin Temple
Next, we'll visit Kotokuin, home to Kamakura's renowned "Daibutsu," a towering Buddha statue that offers a perfect opportunity for capturing breathtaking smartphone photos.
■ Lunchtime: Savor local Kamakura delicacies
■ Hasedera Temple
After a satisfying meal, we'll visit Hasedera Temple, where majestic Eleven statues of Kannon await, along with breathtaking views of Yuigahama from the observation deck—especially stunning during the June hydrangea bloom.
■ Chikara Mochi House (Japanese Confectionery Shop)
Next, we'll stop by Chikara Mochi House near Goryo Jinja to pick up some delectable Japanese-style confectionery before heading to Yuigahama. While enjoying the local food, immerse yourself in the magnificent Pacific Ocean views and picturesque sandy beaches.
■ Yuigahama coastline
Our journey continues along the Yuigahama coastline, where you can relish the colorful Kamakura vegetables available at the Kamakura City Agricultural Cooperative Association shop. Don't forget to grab some tasty prepared foods and homemade bread to enjoy later at your hotel.
